It’s amazing that you can point the finger at those that are asked to give all if required and sacrifice everything that is important to them while they do it. Some people have the mentality of “Break glass only in the case of war” towards our military and especially towards Marines…
Not being a combat arms Marine can make it a bit difficult to understand a 21 year old who conducts the hardest training, likes to sleep in the rain, copes with long separations from their family, doesn’t know the word fail, is dealt the toughest life but simply smiles back at it and continues to look shit hot in their dress blues without missing a beat. How I love them.

[This is a must read dealing with the us “shooting our wounded”. As a Viet Nam Marine I understand. Today I work with a Marine with a less than honorable discharge who came home from “Nam and went a bit off the reservation. He is denied VA benefits which he badly needs. Seems losing half your company and a whole ammo dump doesn’t mean much… – JS]
